Week 5 – First Mix

When it came to mixing the track the first time I had to consider how it would sound without vocals as that would be my submission for the later week, this process included having switch between with and without vocals as I had to keep a balance either way it was played.

I adjusted the EQ to create a larger sound with a slight echo in order to create ambience without needing to record through an amp and microphone however after normalising the tracks I encountered some errors so I had to undo a few steps till I had repaired the sound.

When it came to mixing vocals I had to use a slightly different approach this is because different processes are required in comparison to mixing a guitar or bass.

I had to create automation in order to cut out peaks in my bass guitar as during the intro there was an error due to the cutting which was used to assemble the tracks, this was a simple but long process as it meant having to separately automate the tracks in order to keep a balanced blend and to prevent more echoey booms in the playing of the tracks.
